Our History
The River Ridge Learning Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. After ongoing discussions between key stakeholders, an initiative was set to create a center that not only benefitted the businesses and workers of River Ridge, but also their children who will be the workers of tomorrow.
The River Ridge Learning Center Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization began as an idea between the CEO of America Place, Jim Karp, and the River Ridge Development Authority. Karp’s vision was to create a high-quality childcare center, run by educated and experienced staff to benefit the businesses and employees at River Ridge, and its surrounding community.
In October 2021, this vision became a reality when the Academy doors at River Ridge were open for children. Currently, in Phase I, the River Ridge Learning Center is licensed to serve up to 54 toddlers and preschool children, ages two to five years old.
Our goal is to enter Phase II in 2027 to expand the program to serve infants, gradually increasing enrollment, up to 200 children. This model offers a “Win-Win-Win” solution that supports the employers, employees, and the children of the River Ridge Commerce Center and our community.

Our team is made up of passionate early childhood educators and support staff who are committed to helping every child feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. With experience across administration, toddler care, and preschool education, each team member plays an important role in creating a warm and encouraging environment for children and families.
Welcome to The Academy at River Ridge. I am so happy you are here! I bring nearly two decades of Early Childhood Education experience to our team. My various experience includes 6 years of Special Needs childcare, 10 years of Headstart, and for the last 4 years here at River Ridge Learning Center. My philosophy of education is that children need presence and not presents. Early Childhood Education is my passion and I look forward to supporting and fostering a positive early learning experience for your child(ren)
I handle various administrative tasks and support our team to ensure everything runs smoothly. I have obtained my Human Resources certification along with a Child Development Associate (CDA). I assist with employee relations and ensuring a positive work environment. I’m excited to be a part of the team and look forward to working with you and your family.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and I am currently transitioning my degree to Education. I have been working in education for 7 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach and support your child’s growth and learning.
I have a passion for working with little learners. I love helping children grow, explore, and feel confident in the classroom. I have an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and have been teaching for 10 years.
I have a warm heart for children. I have obtained my Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and Paraprofessional certification. I have worked in the Early Childhood field for 3 years and I am currently a student at IUS studying for a Special Education Degree.
I am excited to welcome you and your child(ren) to class this school year! I have obtained my Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. I have a passion for teaching, and I am dedicated to creating a safe and positive learning environment.
I am excited for all the learning and growing we will be doing together! I have 16 years of experience working in Early Childhood with ages infant-school age. I obtained my Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, and I am currently furthering my education to achieve my Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education.
